Osvaldo Cartery celebrates

Osvaldo Cartery, special guest of International Tango Festival Ljubljana, celebrates his birthday.

Osvaldo is one of the viejos milongueros, the generation of dancers that transmitted the tango, its secrets and values to today's greates maestros. Julio Balmaceda, also a star of Ljubljana's festival, was also learning from Osvlado.

Osvaldo Cartery's tango does not contain any show elements - these were invented to impress the audiences decades after Osvaldo flattered women by his dance. Osvaldo is dancing for his partners. The hankerchiev in his hand is an expression of the ultimate respect for the lady, preventing the sweat from discomforting her.

Osvaldo with his partner Coca won the world championship in Tango de salon at his 67. year. He brings to Ljubljana the subtleties of "la marca", the secrect knowledge of how to "pisar como pies de miel".

Osvaldo and Coca have received many invitations to teach abroad but they have never left Argentina if it was not for Ljubljana.
